US state withholding guide
New Mexico withholding explained
New Mexico uses its FYI-104 withholding tables together with a federal-style W-4 copy marked for New Mexico withholding. That makes it a good fit for a salary estimate, but not a full payroll record.
In short
Our estimate uses the 2026 annual withholding tables for the filing status you select and lets you add voluntary extra withholding if you want a more conservative result.
What the calculator is doing
New Mexico publishes annual withholding tables for current wage withholding. The calculator uses the annual table for single, married filing jointly or head of household, then adds any extra annual withholding you enter.
What is not included yet
The guide and calculator do not separately model the copied New Mexico W-4 process, reciprocity edge cases, cumulative withholding, non-wage withholding or every exempt-income situation.
When to use the estimate
Use it when comparing a job offer or checking a rough take-home-pay amount. If you need exact payroll treatment, compare the estimate with your payslip and the New Mexico withholding tables.
The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department explains that employers use a federal W-4 copy marked for New Mexico withholding and refers employers to the 2026 withholding tables in FYI-104. Return to the US calculator.
