How SSP is worked out for 2026/27
For eligible employees, SSP is 80% of average weekly earnings or £123.25 a week, whichever is lower. It is paid from the first full day of sickness for absences starting on or after 6 April 2026. The daily amount depends on the number of qualifying days you normally work each week.
What this calculator cannot decide
It does not determine whether you are eligible, calculate average weekly earnings from payroll history, assess linked periods of incapacity, or include contractual company sick pay. It also does not cover absence rules that began before 6 April 2026. Ask your employer if their scheme pays more than statutory minimums.
Figures and rules are based on GOV.UK's manual SSP guidance and employee SSP information.
